MUSEUM - School programmes

One of the aims of the Egyptian Museum of Barcelona has always been to introduce children to the civilization of the Pharaohs. This was the reason why the Museum established a programme in 1997 with learning and leisure activities under the name "The World of the Pharaohs".

The activities of these programmes are part of the usual guided visits of the Museum, but there are complemented with workshops where the students can learn in more detail certain aspects of life in Ancient Egypt while they take part in various enjoyable tasks. Hieroglyphics, mummification, mythology and the Pharaohs themselves are four of the themes on which the Museum focuses.

There are brief theoretical explanations but, also hands on activities that use copies of real archaeological materials so that students stage a given situation related to the objects studied in each workshop.
