SCHOOL OF EGYPTOLOGY - Introduction

Award Ceremony: Diplomas and Master Degrees of the Second and Third promotions of the School of Archaeology

Clos Archaeological Foundation has always paid special attention to post graduate studies. For this reason, in February 2001 it created the School of Egyptology, the first in Spain.

It has now consolidated its programmes, but it is still the only private centre where post graduates can study Egyptology.

The School of Egyptology is part of the Scholarship in Egyptology Jordi Clos that is backed by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

The Council of Studies of Clos Archaeological Foundation supervises the programmes and sets guides for the two courses: Diploma and Master in Language, History and Culture of Ancient Egypt.

Tutors are a key element in the educative system of the school. Because of this, all those who wish to study with us have a personal interview with a tutor, who will take into account the personal circumstances of the student and will elaborate an individualized study programme accordingly. The tutor will also do a follow up of the development of the student and, together with other teachers, will decide when it is time for the student to take his/her exams.

The students of the School of Archaeology have free access to the documents of the Library that is part of Clos Archaeological Foundation. (S)he can also study first hand the archaeological objects that the Egyptian Museum of Barcelona has.

Regarding the Archaeological Campus of the Foundation, it can be said that it is a key element for practical experiments and investigation.

Finally, the trips to Egypt that are organized by the school are a real incentive for students to see in situ all that they have studied.

Up to date, there have been four annual courses with a total of 220 students.
